Pharmacy Intern Guide and Answer Sheet
For this activity, one student will play the role of a pharmacy intern on rotation in a primary care clinic, and another student will play the role of a health care provider (specifically, a physician practicing in that clinic).
The pharmacy intern will be asked a drug information question by the health care provider. The pharmacy intern is then permitted to ask the health care provider for additional information in order to clarify any underlying context guiding the question. Once the pharmacy intern feels that they understand the health care provider’s underlying question, it should be recorded below as instructed.
In order to determine the best answer to the health care provider’s question, the pharmacy intern will require access to drug information resources for this activity. When the pharmacy intern is confident in their answer, they should document a complete yet concise recommendation below as instructed. Then, the pharmacy intern will provide a verbal response to the health care provider, including any relevant supporting information or rationale.
In the space below, briefly paraphrase the health care provider’s underlying question. Include information gathered during the interaction that is most key to the determination of an answer. ______________________________________________________________________________
In the space below, briefly record the most key information from the answer given to the health care provider’s question. If this answer includes a medication recommendation, then the drug name, dose, and frequency must be included. ______________________________________________________________________________
