CRITERIA ASSESSMENT POINTS

Presentation Skills

  • Presentation was well organized and easy to follow

  • Presenter highlighted key information rather than reading everything from handout

  • Presenter maintained eye contact, spoke clearly, used appropriate language, and did not exhibit nervous or distracting mannerisms (“umms,” “uhhs,” or nervous gestures)

  • Presenter dressed professionally

4–5 pts: Presentation was organized and presenter highlighted key information, spoke clearly, maintained eye contact, and did not exhibit distracting mannerisms.

2–3 pts: Presentation was organized but presenter often read from handout, was sometimes difficult to understand, and/or exhibited distracting mannerisms.

0–1 pts: Presentation was poorly organized and presenter read heavily from the handout, was often difficult to understand, and/or exhibited distracting mannerisms.

Preparedness/Ability to Answer Questions

  • Presenter was well prepared and familiar with all aspects of the study.

  • Presenter was able to answer many or all questions accurately and made it clear when he/she did not know an answer.

4–5 pts: Presenter was well prepared and able to answer most or all questions appropriately.

2–3 pts: Presenter was adequately prepared and able to answer the majority of questions appropriately, although he/she would get stumped on occasion. He/she made it clear when he/she was conjecturing.

0–1 pts: Presenter was poorly prepared and not able to answer most questions or seemed to guess at answers.
