This clue is designed to test the students’ social and emotional intelligence. Students are asked to complete “The Mind in the Eyes” online assessment (http://socialintelligence.labinthewild.org/mite/) prior to coming to class to become familiar with the type of analysis required.
In the escape room, each sheet of this clue is printed separately and left on the table for the students. To solve, students must first match the pages with eye expressions to the pages with text descriptions of the emotion displayed. This is accomplished using the sequential shapes on the eye image page, and the corresponding next symbol on the text description page. Next, students must determine which emotion is displayed by the eyes and select the corresponding number associated with that emotion. Finally, students must arrange the numbers in order of the Greek alphabet displayed at the top of the eye image page. The locks used for this clue were programmable, but the code can be modified to fit any four-digit combination lock.
