Pharmacy students become pharmacy practitioners only after successfully
passing the national licensure examination as well as state and federal law
examinations. These exams are the North American Pharmacist Licensure
Examination (NABPLEX) and the Multi-State Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam
(MJPE). Overall, the pass rate for these examinations is quite good, the
majority of students passing these exams and obtaining state pharmacy
practice licenses on the first attempt. While this is statistically
admirable, it does not speak to the preparation needed to accomplish this
very difficult task. The purpose of this review book is to help with that
task by offering more than 200 real life case study reviews of disease
states, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmaceutic, pharmacologic and other basic
science refreshers as well as an overview of federal pharmacy law.
The authors, either current or former members of
faculty of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, School
of Pharmacy BostonWorcester, who have prepared cases for this book
have taken great care to develop relevant and meaningful exercises. In
addition, each case has a number of thought provoking questions to accompany
it, several hundred in fact, with detailed answers and citations to better
explain the concepts. Great pains were taken to incorporate the criteria as
described by the National Association of Boards of Registration in Pharmacy
(NABP) who administer these exams. On behalf of the Editors and faculty
authors, we wish you the very best success in your future and rewarding
careers as pharmacy professionals.
