AB Leroy  C.  Knodel  (1954-2015),  the  author  of  "Sexually  Transmitted  Diseases"  chapter  in  Pharmacotherapy  since  its  first  edition  in  1989,  received  his  BS  and  PharmD  degrees  from  the  University  of  Kentucky  in  1977  and  1980,  respectively.  He  served  as  a  faculty  member  for  The  University  of  Texas  at  Austin  and  the  University  of  Texas  Health  Science  Center  at  San  Antonio  for  more  than  30  years.  His  chief  academic  responsibility  was  to  coordinate  experiential  pharmacy  education  in  the  San  Antonio  region,  a  role  he  thoroughly  embraced  and  enjoyed.  He  also  directed  the  Drug  Information  Service  for  many  years  and  held  prominent  service  roles  with  state  agencies,  local  health  care  institutions,  and  charitable  organizations.
