He completed a B.S. in pharmacy at University of Illinois in Chicago, an M.S. in pharmacy administration at The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in pharmacy administration at the University of South Carolina. At Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Holdford teaches professional and graduate students about pharmaceutical marketing, pharmacy management, pharmacy benefits management, and pharmacoeconomics. His current research interests focus on assessing the value of pharmaceuticals and the role of marketing in health care. He is the author of the textbook, Marketing for Pharmacists, 2nd edn., from American Pharmacist Association Publications and coauthor of Introduction to Hospital & Health-System Pharmacy Practice.
